As an IT network and systems administrator, you will work in a team that complements each other well and works together to find sustainable solutions for the Fronius IT infrastructure. Thinking outside the box is just as much a matter of course as friendly and respectful interaction with one another.

Alex: You could say that our two areas
are interdependent. In the network area, nothing works without a server running
in the background, and vice versa.
Gerd: That's right, we need the network infrastructure to run our servers. So we build on each other, we have an interface and that's why it works so well. We couldn't work without the network technology.
Daily work
What is your day-to-day work like?
Alex: As a network administrator, I also prepare access points for other sites. These are configured via the management system and integrated into the network. In a way, we bring the network to the Fronius employees. Put simply, we make sure that others can work. You don't have to sit in front of a computer all day, as the cliché goes, but you can exchange ideas with colleagues, have meetings, appointments, projects and much more.
Gerd: As a system administrator, we run servers, both physical and virtual. We have more than 1,000 servers that provide all sorts of services to enable our users to work - such as authentication, email services, file services, etc.
You can actually become a system administrator as a career changer, as long as you have an interest in IT, stay on top of things and above all enjoy it.
Personal insights
Alex: Ich bin Alex, Netzwerkadministrator bei Fronius
und knapp fünf Jahre im Unternehmen tätig. Ich habe 2019 mit meiner Lehre
gestartet und diese 2021 abgeschlossen. In meinem Verantwortungsbereich liegen
beispielsweise LAN und WLAN im Unternehmen.
Gerd: Mein Name ist Gerd, ich bin Systemadministrator
bei Fronius und für die Server- und Storage-Landschaft zuständig. Ich bin
mittlerweile seit eineinhalb Jahren bei Fronius tätig.
Was begeistert euch an euerer Arbeit?
Gerd: Das Coolste an meinem Job ist, dass jeder Tag anders ist. Es macht Spaß sich immer wieder in neue Tätigkeiten einzuarbeiten, man lernt quasi immer etwas Neues dazu. Wir haben euch einen tollen Team-Spirit und genau das macht den Job so besonders.
Alex: Die Technik ist für mich das, was den Job so spannend macht. Dann kommen noch die anderen Faktoren dazu: Der humorvolle Umgang mit dem Team, die Abwechslung und Spontanität. Oft ist man an den verschiedenen Standorten unterwegs und lernt neue Kolleginnen und Kollegen kennen.
Just give it a go. You'll never be able to do everything from the start, but there's a team to support you and training opportunities at Fronius. If you don't try and take risks, you won't win anything.
