Pulse Multi Control (PMC)

We were able to detect a significant reduction in heat input and thus reduce welding spatter. In the end, we were left with flawless welding seams with fewer rejects and reduced reworking. This allowed us to further increase our productivity by up to 65 percent all in all! This saves us around 120 working hours each month,” enthuses Operations Manager Rafael Severino. “At the same time, investing in the new TPS 600i devices was considerably more affordable than purchasing further robotic cells.

Requests
Painco’s customers belong to the heavy steelwork segment. In this particular sector, the sheet thicknesses, designed to cope with extreme conditions, represent the ultimate challenge for the joining technology. Painco’s robotic welding cells, which were originally equipped with 350-A power sources, quickly reached their limits in terms of output. Neither the seam quality nor the welding speed met the quality criteria and the high reject rate led to a stagnation in production capacity.

Solution
In order to produce the planned quantities, the metalworking company decided to replace the existing welding systems instead of newly installing further robotic welding cells. The solution came in the form of the Fronius TPS 600i power source. Painco also opted for an upgrade when purchasing the welding systems: namely, the Pulse Multi Control (PMC) Welding Package. The modernized pulsed arc considerably improves the material transfer, significantly increasing welding speeds in the process.
